 Brief Account of the Islamic Scripture College of Ningxia
The Islamic Scripture College of overing an area of about
15,000 square metres, was formally established in 1985, with the 1,113,000$ gratuitous financial aid from the Islamism Development Bank.
The aim of the college is to cultivate senior Isla-mic clergymen who love both our motherland and Islamism, are both
virtuous and highly gifted, abide by the discipline and also comply with the la-w, and have high levels of scripture and culture and also strictly practice Islamism.
The design scale of the college is 180 students in school, consisting of 120 under-graduates
(divided into four classes, each of which has 30 students),and 60 training stu-dents (divided into two classes, and each has 30 students. )Now the scale is enlarged,and there are 215 students in the college, that is, 160 four-year-term undergraduates (four classes, and each 40
students), 40 one-year-term religious clergymen training students, and still 15 preparatory students. The object of recruitment for undergr- aduate class is promising Islamite youths who
have senior high school cultural degrees or equal educatio-nal backgrounds, and have studied over 3 years at the mosque besides. After 4 years’stu-dies in the college, they will be moulded into senior and capable Islamic clergymen with higher religious sch- olarship and cultures, furthermore, with abilities to handle more complicated religious affairs. The one-year-term
clergymen training class, recruiting 40 students anually, is open to ahungs without practitioner license, having studied over 5 years at the mosque. After one-year intensive study at coll- ege, these who pass through the required examination and are qualified, will be granted graduate certificates by the college and ahung licences by the Islamism Association of the Ningxia Autonomous Region for Hui Minority, which assures them of qualifications for teachinga
hungs at the mosque. Besides, there is still a ahung further education class. And this class ,which meets the requirements of teaching-ahungs that a short-term ahung further education
course be run for them ,is intended to train the ahungs teaching at the mosque to understand
the Chine-se Communist Party’s religion. Policy of race and raise their political thought consc-iousness and self-consciousness of abiding by the discipline and complying with the law, and thus to adapt them to new situations that we should strengthen the management of the religious affairs by law. And from the year 1999 to 2003, the class was held 19 periods altogether, each of which comprised 40 students and lasted for one month ,and it totally trained 760 students.
The faculty of the college has 34 staffs now ,among which there are 15 teachers (in-cluding 4 emp- loyed lectures). The curricula includes <Arabic>, <Koran>, <Sage’s Instr-uctions>, <Islamism Rules>, <the Biography of Mohammed>,<Modern Chinese>,<Ancient Chines-e>,<the History of Chinese Literature>,<Writing>,<Contemporary Literature>,<Classic Lit-erature>,<Foreign Literature>,<the History of Islamism>,<Mosslem People’s History>,<A-rabian History>,<the
History of Chinese Revolution>,<Religion Policy of Race>,<Law>,<the current News Politics>,< DengXiaoping’s Theories>,<the Elementary Course of Computer>,
<English>,<Athletics>,etc.
Since the college was established in 1985, it has graduated 1390 students of all kin-ds,including 3 periods of advanced vocational training class(three years’school system) which have graduated 74 students, 2 periods of other provinces ahung entrustment training class(advanced vocational training course, three years’ school system)which have gradua-ted 36 students,15 periods of clergymen training class (one year) graduated 600 students, and 19 periods of
ahung further education class(further study for one month)for middle-aged or young ahungs
at incumbency, 760 students; and from this year on, the number of students at the college will be 255 at most, meanwhile, the number of students to gradua-te will be 240,which has played
or will play an important part in improving the knowledge structure of Islamic clergymen of the
Autonomous Rigion and heightening their legal con-sciousness. Now the college has become a
fast battle field, and it has been reinforcing our Region’s Islamic affairs and consolidating the
stability of the whole Region, there-fore, it is liberally given unanimous compliments by the Central Party, the State Counci-l, leaders of the Ningxia Autonomous Regionand colleagues in other
provinces or regions. |
